The Moose Fund

Protect animals and environment

Enterprises that strive for the well – being of animals and preservation of the environment  are welcome to make an appeal for aid to The Moose Fund. The Moose Fund supports both Dutch and foreign projects.

Although small scale projects are usually selected we are open to requests from large scale projects, especially from those active in environmental conservation.  It is of vital importance that the local community participates in the projects we support.

a selection of the different projects

The Moose Fund supports both Dutch and foreign projects.

By making the local population aware of their environment and by creating opportunities for their active involvement in the project we believe a better future can be secured for them.

This in turn facilitates better conditions favorable to the survival of the project, creating a win-win situation for all involved. Last but not least, we will check the backgrounds, beliefs and the aims of the applicant organizations to see if these are compatible with those our own.

Another multi-year project we support was set up by the Secore Foundation. Secore develop innovative techniques that can restore damaged coral reefs. Successful experiments, using artificial insemination techniques to grow new cora, l have been carried out in Mexico, Curacao and the Philippines.

For several years Moose have been supporting the foundation Bring the Elephant Home. BTEH buys up street elephants, who have been abused for the sake of the tourist industry, and provides them with homes on their reserve. To furnish their ex-owners with alternative sources of income is considered part of the project. BETH also do much good work to change the mentality of the local population. In Borneo BTEH are active with a project to restore the natural habitat of the elephants there.

A project by Wetlands International: the restoration of mangrove forests in Java. This restoration work not only prevents land erosion but also facilitates diversity of vegetation which in turn keeps fish stocks at a healthy level. The work involved in this project also provides a source of income for the local population which as we have already stated creates a win-win situation for all involved.
